Back in September, Apple released iOS 6 which was the first update since the original iPhone to not include Google Maps. The maps that came with iOS 6 were not recieved well and had serious problems. There are several blogs deticated to the bizzare mishaps of Apple’s maps. Just a week ago people in Australia were stranded in national Parks due to faultry directions.
Today, Google released it iPhone app for Google Maps which features spoken turn-by-turn directions, transit directions, and of course all the features you know and love from Google Maps.
Within hours, Google Maps became the number 1 downloaded Free app. And Nokia`s HERE maps went out of the top one thousand. This intense interest in Google maps means that many are looking for an alternative to the Apple maps.
Now that the Google Maps are out, there`s going to be a large amount of users to win over.
